"Our Dojo Dogz: Primary Course Is Designed Specifically for Children |
I designed this course specifically for children ages 7 to 9 years old. I did this because children in this age range have specific characteristics that differ from the younger children and the older ones. They are sharper and more focused than children 6 and under, however, they are still not quite ready to face the same challenges and training curriculum taught to children 10 to 12 years old. Although some children between the ages of 7 & 9 can keep up with older children, and in some cases, surpass them, the average 7 to 9 year old can benefit from a more age-specific type of training that will help them develop the best; physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
Over the past 13 years I’ve studied and researched the stages of development for children 7 - 9 years old. I’ve targeted 8 advanced skills this particular age group are in the process of developing. Those skills are: concentration, perseverance, courage, intensity, speed, agility, technique, and flexibility. To complete this study I wanted to design the perfect curriculum for this age group. It had to be a thorough curriculum as well as age-specific. And that’s how the Dojo Dogz: Primary Course was born.
In the Dojo Dogz: Primary Course program, your child will learn and grow in a training environment that accommodates their skills and abilities. They will train with other children in their age group, and not have to be distracted by younger or older classmates. This means their training will not be slowed down due to the learning abilities of a younger child; and it will not be sped up to keep up with the capabilities of a pre-teen. This means better, more functional classes designed just for them. Your child will feel comfortable and more capable of achieving excellence. They are at an age where the more special they feel, the harder they will try. With that in mind, I want to welcome you to the Dojo Dogz: Primary Course program! If this is the first program that your child has participated in, then this is their first step to conquering many goals. And if this is not the first program, then they are even closer to excellence.
Here’s how the Dojo Dogz: Primary Prep Course program works:
The 8 advanced skills selected for the Primary Course program were broken down into specific requirements that each student must tackle at every belt level. There are 9 belt levels total, which means that your child will dramatically progress through all 8 skills. This means your child will be sharper, more focused, & better developed physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially than a child who does not participate in a program strategically designed like my age specific training regimen.
Here are the 8 advanced skills broken down in the Primary Course definition:
1. Concentration: Your child will learn how to focus all of their attention to the task at hand while committing themselves to learning and growing. 2. Perseverance: Your child will learn how to face challenges presented to them; knowing that the challenges will be difficult to complete. 3. Courage: Your child will learn how to overcome fear and nervousness through training that initially seems intimidating. 4. Intensity: Your child will learn how to perform their karate and jiu jitsu techniques with a strong effort and intense attitude. 5. Speed: Your child will learn the components of speed and how to control their balance, body posture, positioning and technique in the process. 6. Agility: your child will learn the mechanics that govern movement and how it plays a role when they are jumping, dodging and moving about quickly. 7. Technique: Your child will learn the fundamental components of what good karate and jiu-jitsu technique is, which will make them great athletes. 8. Flexibility: Your child will gain and maintain flexibility through fun and educational training drills.
Complete education of these 8 skills will help your child be the best they possibly can be at their age of development. They will become at the top of their age group, while they learn and have fun in the process. You and your child will not regret the adventure they are about to undertake.
Here’s how your child will advance through the Dojo Dogz: Primary Course:
First, it is necessary to understand the importance of consistency in your child’s training. If your child misses classes on a regular basis, it will affect their progress throughout the ranks, and your child will fall behind. To ensure proper development and a high level of motivation, make sure your child attends classes twice a week.
Here’s a brief overview of how your child will advanced to each rank and graduate from the Primary Course program:
1. There are 8 skills covered in the Primary Course program. At each belt level, your child will have to meet specific requirements for each skill in order to advance to the next level. 2. In addition to the 8 skills, training curriculum will be covered weekly. Because consistency is so important when perfecting karate and jiu-jitsu techniques children will drill technique often in a fun and encouraging manner. At each belt level, your child will be expected to perform curriculum more polished than the previous belt level. 3. The testing cycle will run every 3 months. During the 3 months between each test, your child must qualify in order to test for their next rank. Qualification includes proper class attendance, good grades at school and good conduct at home and at school. 4. At each testing, your child will have to perform each of the 8 skills for their rank as well as their karate and jiu-jitsu techniques in front of a panel of instructors and audience. Because the Dojo Dogz: Primary Course is the transitional program that prepares your child for the pre-teen program, your child will have to perform the skill requirements at an exceptional rate in order to advance.
Graduating from the Primary Course program is like passing middle school. Your child will be faced with challenges that will make them smarter and sharper. When your child graduates, they will have conquered a challenging journey. How to make the most out of your child’s martial arts experience
Each and every child who participates in the Dojo Dogz: Primary Course walks away with knowledge and education that will influence their life for years to come. It is our commitment to teach your child in the best, most positive environment possible. At home, it is up to you to encourage them and support them the best you can.
Here are some tips for you to review with your child to help make the most out of their training:
1. Reinforce training at home: It is only when a child practices more than usual that they appreciate and recognize their hard work. 2. Attend their classes regularly: When you support their effort and motivation, they try harder. 3. Don’t allow them to be tardy to class: Tardiness will make them feel uncomfortable, and teaches bad manners. 4. Discourage consistent absences: Consistency and commitment will be one of the best lessons your child learns. 5. Reward their achievements: When you recognize their accomplishments, they are more inclined to continue accomplishing. 6. Help them set consistent goals: The more they go for, the more they gain.
These tips prove to be invaluable to a child’s growth and development. In a competitive world to capture your child’s attention, I trust my Dojo Dogz: Primary Course will do so in a way that will greatly influence their childhood positively.
